One of the most common questions that comes to an excellent mind is ‘what is the difference between neurofeedback and biofeedback?’

Many people do not know or understand the difference between these two common methods.

The term biofeedback means giving feedback through the measurement of biological parameters. [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biofeedback ]

Therefore, neurofeedback is a term derived from the term biofeedback. In fact, neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback that measures brain waves using the parameter and a given indication.

Usually, when using the term biofeedback, we mean measuring by sensors of various parameters from the body including breathing speed, pulse, electrical conductivity of the skin (GSR). Additionally, when using the term neurofeedback, we mean measuring the EEG sensors of the brain waves.

Because neurofeedback relies on measuring real-time brain waves, this method is most suitable and effective for cognitive brain training as well as attention training. In contrast, biofeedback is best suited for topics of sensory regulation, anxiety, frenzy and more, but much less so for topics related to cognitive training.

Therefore, the appropriate training and/or treatment should be adapted according to the problem that is being solved or improved.
